Talk Shop: Check-Engine Light

Check-Engine Light’s On? Don’t panic right away.

The reason why the check-engine light comes on is because something is out of its range in the emissions system. This could be anything from a loose gas cap to a burnt-out spark plug. Or even a worst case scenario of a plugged catalytic converter. The most important thing is: if the check-engine light is flashing go to your professional repair center right away.

If the light has just come on, the best thing to do is to check your gas cap first. If you have to, remove it and put it back on. It may take a few days for the light to go out if that was the issue. If the light stays on for longer than 3 days, it’s best to get it inspected by an automotive professional. Hopefully, it’s just a sensor out of its range.

In the video, you will see a couple scenarios featuring a failed spark plug and also where someone previously created a problem by replacing the air filter and at the same time disconnected something they shouldn’t have.

Remember, if the light has just come on, don’t panic. But, if the light is flashing, bring it to your automotive repair professional as soon as possible.

As always, we welcome your feedback.  Join the conversation on Facebook or Twitter or by leaving a comment below.  You can also email us if you have any questions or book an appointment online.  Also, check out our YouTube Channel for all of these Talk Shop videos and more from Season 1 and Season 2 of our Roger’s Original Series DRIVE!

Enjoy your ride!

Simone Performance Announcement

April 25, 2022

After serving our community's automotive repair and performance needs for the past 18 years, with the last few stressful years during COVID, the time has come for us to move on to new adventures and to have a little more time to
relax and enjoy ourselves.

Vic and Christine are excited to announce that Simone Performance will be under new ownership as of May 1, 2022.

We want to thank our dedicated and talented staff who have been a very big part of our success, particularly Ryan Fray, our manager, for being that knowledgeable, friendly face customers see when they walked in.

Going forward, a familiar face will be your go-to guy at Simone Performance. Please welcome Brandon McCombe (our shop foreman) as the new owner, who – along with our great staff – will continue to provide the same excellent service that Simone Performance has become known for.

To help Brandon get established and on his way, Vic and Christine will be available in a limited capacity during the transition over the next few months. We cannot express our gratitude and appreciation enough for your business and to the Towns of Newmarket and Aurora – it has been a privilege to have been your trusted automotive shop for all these years.

THANK YOU!

Vic & Christine Simone
