A Deal Isn’t Always A Deal

In today’s ever-thrifty, deal-driven world, when it comes to automotive repairs, especially brakes, everyone wants to try and get things done as inexpensively as possible. Unfortunately, inexpensive doesn’t usually mean great quality.

An example for you: here we have two brake rotors that are approximately six months old. They’ve only gone through one winter and this is the condition of them now. There is significant rust and wear and tear on them. After less than a year’s use, they need to be replaced.

There is a big price difference between quality and quantity products. In this case, the customer was quoted a brake job, found it to be too expensive, and decided to get it done somewhere else where low-grade parts were used. From what you can see in the picture it looks like our winter took a significant toll on these rotors. They just don’t have any life left in them.

If It Sounds Too Good To Be True…

When you are in the market for a brake replacement job for your vehicle it’s a good idea to shop around. Take the time to find out what kind of quality parts are going to be put on your vehicle. Keep in mind that nothing beats OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts.

It’s always a red flag if you talk to a shop or dealer about getting work done on your vehicle and the price tag seems very affordable (ie cheap). Something is definitely wrong.  A good practice is to ask what the brand of part is, so you can do some research on your own.

These rotors are a prime example of what happens when you go the cheap route and maybe save fifty dollars on a brake job. It’s just not worth it because within six months you end up getting the brakes done again. Always remember, it’s either do it nice or do it twice. Unfortunately in this case, the customer’s brakes had to be done twice, but with better parts the second time around. This makes you wonder, how much money did they actually spend to save fifty bucks?

Simone Performance Announcement

April 25, 2022

After serving our community's automotive repair and performance needs for the past 18 years, with the last few stressful years during COVID, the time has come for us to move on to new adventures and to have a little more time to
relax and enjoy ourselves.

Vic and Christine are excited to announce that Simone Performance will be under new ownership as of May 1, 2022.

We want to thank our dedicated and talented staff who have been a very big part of our success, particularly Ryan Fray, our manager, for being that knowledgeable, friendly face customers see when they walked in.

Going forward, a familiar face will be your go-to guy at Simone Performance. Please welcome Brandon McCombe (our shop foreman) as the new owner, who – along with our great staff – will continue to provide the same excellent service that Simone Performance has become known for.

To help Brandon get established and on his way, Vic and Christine will be available in a limited capacity during the transition over the next few months. We cannot express our gratitude and appreciation enough for your business and to the Towns of Newmarket and Aurora – it has been a privilege to have been your trusted automotive shop for all these years.

THANK YOU!

Vic & Christine Simone
