How do Automotive Enthusiasts Get Through the Winter?

subaru-vkm

For many of us out there that love cars and everything about them, it’s never enough to just have a nice car. We want to modify, build and tune our machines to make them everything we have ever dreamed of.

What happens when winter comes? Our cars we poured our heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into go away or we “de-modify” them to suit the needs for winter.  Whether we drive them through the snow or store them, winter time for most car enthusiasts is go time! This means we are researching more parts to kick things up a notch and stock piling parts to customize our rides that much more.

As someone who is always looking to better my ride in every possible way, the winter is my time to look at my build setup, decide where my car is lacking and what to focus more of my attention on.

For many of us out there that love cars and everything about them, it’s never enough to just have a nice car. We want to modify, build and tune our machines to make them everything we have dreamed of.  It’s one thing to start off with intake, exhaust, rims and lowering springs, then you get to the point where you want the best and where does that take you? Excellence!

We have come up with some of our favorite modifications to get your ride looking right, handling the curves with ease and setting you back in your seat with nothing but a smile on your face.

The winter is my time to look at my build setup, decide what my car is lacking and where to focus more of my attention.  When customers come in to get upgrades we like to ask them exactly what they would like to achieve, then from there we will work together to find parts that will attain these goals. Without an idea of where you want to take a build you will end up replacing the same part(s) multiple times before you end up with what you want.  This is never fun, but to be honest sometimes it’s necessary. Sometimes it takes some trial and error to get your ride exactly the way you want it. But with research & recommendations we can limit the amount of trial and error with the experience our technicians can bring to the table.

subaru-nice-assExhaust: Whether you’re adding this popular upgrade to add extra power with a free
flowing exhaust or if you want to turn some heads with the noise of the song of my people. This modification can make you fall in love with your ride all over again. And with the perfect tips it can make that rear end of yours look just right.

Engine: Under the hood beats the heart of what propels your beast down the road, here we can add horsepower, torque and style with some of the most highly polished and developed parts in the game today! Who knows you may be able to add some carbon fiber here and there. If you want to make power this is where it all goes down! Some engine jobs are more time consuming then others so this can be a perfect winter upgrade while your car is off the road.

Suspension: Whether you’re building a car that’s glued to the road with Coilovers, sitting on the floor VIP style on some bags or maybe you just want a clean drop with some lowering springs. Suspension is where you can change the way your ride handles the road, track and dare I say speed-bumps.  There are different types for different looks and feels:

  • Quality Coilovers are going to give you more of a track feeling, tight handling is what performance cravers live for.
  • Air ride suspension gives you full control of your ride height whether it’s riding low, “air’d out” or all the way up to clear a speed-bump. Air ride suspension is the most comfortable way to lower or slam your ride.
  • Lowering springs will give you a lower stance but will not allow you to tailor your car’s image to suit the look you want nor will they allow you to balance the car in anyway.

Wheel and Tire: The rim and tire setup is important whether you want to break some necks or create a better performing ride. Using lighter rims and softer tires can really set your ride up for fun on and off the track. Lighter wheels will lessen rotational mass and may lighten things up enough to give you that extra edge on the competition.

subaru-dynoSoftware and Tune: This is the part that seems to be getting more and more forgotten.  It’s one thing to add every bolt-on you could think of but we all know there has to be a way to get more out of what you have. Simone Performance provides a Dyno service to tie all of your modifications together, getting the most out of your car at the same time keeping it running safe. Those of us running boosted setups know that the tune is the most important part to making power and running safe.   We also have our own tuning specialist in house and ready to make some power with your ride.

Incorporating boost: Adding boost to a naturally aspirated vehicle can be a lengthy and difficult thing to do.  To do this job properly, every aspect of your engine will need to be changed or modified to suit the new power demands and because this is time-consuming, it is a perfect job to do over the winter. The staff here at Simone Performance are very familiar with this conversion from n/a to boosted setups and all of the supporting modifications needed to create one amazing driving experience.

These are all great recommendations for modifications to do over the winter.  We love performance and look forward to helping people with the build aspect or even the parts aspect to get their ride the way they want it.

But wherever you go and whatever you buy, please always use quality parts and quality service.

“Buy nice or buy twice.” This has always stuck with me when I’m buying my parts.

I know, I know, you’re thinking it’s cold and we can’t cruise with the windows down and the exhaust singing in the background.  But, there’s a bright side to all of this, this is your time to get your ride setup and come out strong in the spring! For a lot of us our cars are an extension of ourselves and for most of us the winter is the perfect time to achieve what? Excellence!

We want to hear your feedback.  What are you building this winter?  Let us know in the comments or send us an email.
